We’ve got frames, you create the pictures.

The ASFC has been driven by the simple idea to provoke aspiring filmmakers to move from a ready-steady to a GO position. GO Create, GO Film! All excuses against doing so are certainly eliminated by the provision of a clear structure, professional workshops & mentoring, and tangible incentives to make ASFC so intriguing to even convince the Terminator in quitting his killing-people-duties for a week to grab a camera and join the competition.

What is ASFC?

The Aarhus Short Film Challenge (ASFC) is an annual internationally recognized short film competition based in Aarhus, Denmark. The participating teams have 7 days to create a short film that applies 2 randomly selected topics + a line of dialog and is no longer than 4 minutes. This time frame serves as a firestarter button releasing creativity bullets, rather than having a restrictive function. Participants from all around the world are welcome to submit their films online.

The best ten films are screened afterwards at the Awards Gala, after evaluation from jury made up of film professionals and send to different screenings in Denmark and Europe.

Filmmaking is a chance to live many lifetimes.

ASFC is aiming at creating the best ambience for your |Creativity flower | to bloom and flourish. Therefore, in addition to the main event there is a strong educational panel |The Soil | represented by engaging workshops by leading filmmaking professionals that physically take place in Aarhus during the filming week, but are also streamed online therefore accessible to the international participants and audience.
